Coming Close to the End Folks!!!

Graduation is coming closer and closer and it feels like I have so much to do. Well, did feel like it until I turned in my paperwork, payed my fees, and ect. I'm excited and also nervous....but mostly excited :). I was talking to my sister about it and she almost started crying. "I feel so old with you graduating college!" My sister is nowhere near old and SURELY doesn't act the part. Shes silly and I love her very much. I am still deciding to put some plans together for that following evening. I was thinking of my family and friends, and other graduates and their family friends meeting for a dinner somewhere or have a gathering downtown somewhere. Who knows. I might not do anything!!! Christmas is the following week so I have to pay special attention to my bank account, like many other people. Well guys thats it for now. Later.

November 7, 2009

Hello everyone. Just giving a little bit of an update on things. My life hasn't been that eventful. I didn't get to do anything for Halloween because I got sick with a overnight stomach virus. It passed, so I'm happy to be ok. Its coming down to the wire, and graduation is in just a month and I feel so behind on tasks I need to accomplish. I have dedicated my two off days this upcoming week to get all of my plans done as far as paperwork, payments, and mailing off graduation letters. They came in earlier than I thought :). So thats a good thing. Work has been sort of a drag. But hey, its a job, and thats why I plan on going to graduate school so I can have a career. I can't wait for Thanksgiving yall!!! I get to feed my face which is one of my favorite things to do, and I get to see my sister again. I'm excited to see her and my brother in law. OH and lets not even start on Christmas. I havent gotten a list together! Geez, time goes by so fast! Well, I'll talk to you all next time.

"I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant"

The article from slate that I choose is called "Don't Throw the Baby Out With the Bathwater." The article is about the Discovery Health show "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant." I found the title to be quite funny in reference to the show. I have watched this show before and I have found that it is one of my favorites. I love to see my favorite things be acknowleged whether it be a song, show, movie, etc. If you have not seen the show, the title pretty much sums it up. The show tells the stories of women who did not know they were pregnant unil the baby comes out. Some women have the babies in their homes, some in very random places, some at the hospital. One women was having pains in her stomach and believe the pain to be from her prior health issues. She was told she couldn't have children and dismissed being pregnant long before because she did not have any symptoms, was older in age, and took a pregnancy test that came up negative. While she was in the emergency room she went to the restroom on thought she was having a bowel movement and had a baby! Then when the doctor placed her on the observation table, she still had the urge to push. She did, and had ANOTHER baby! She had twin boys. Crazy huh?!?!? Thats why I love watching it because all of the stories are unexpected. Whenever you get chance you should watch.

Rainy Tees and Fried Peaches and Cream

I had the greatest weekend. We left for Irving on Friday and that night my sister, my best friend, and I went to my first ever drag show. That is what I must say was a experience! LOL. I know drag shows are not for everyone and I totally respect that. For some reason I wanted to get a drag show checked off my list of things to do in my life. I saw alot of lipsynching and cartwheels and surprisingly comedy. We all laughed alot, not at people persay, but the hosts were every funny.

Sunday we slept in and went shopping. We stayed home that night and watched movies.

Ok, Sunday we went to the Texas State Fair that I was all gaga over last week, and guys I'm still gaga over it! I wish I didn't have to leave. Oprah came and visited while we were there. UNFORTUNATELY we didn't get to see here because everytime we went were people said she was we would just miss her! I guess it wasn't meant to be, lol. When we first got there we visited the butterfly garden which was beautiful. We had to choose between the butterfly show and the birds of the world show across the way so we went and saw the birds. The show was great. Going in I was thinking, "Wow, this is alot of open space. How are they going to control these birds and keep them from flying away?" To my plesant surprise the birds were trained greatly. They would fly through the audience and their feet would just barely touch the top of peoples heads. We saw all sorts of eagles, cranes, parrots, tucans. One of the parrots was on the Jay Leno show and won an award for best singing parrot in the world. He sung pretty terrible to me, but great for a parrot!

We saw the latest vehicles coming on the market. We saw Chevy, Ford, Lexus, Mecedes, BMW, Honda, and so on. I'm not a car person but I did get a free shirt so at that time I was very attentive! Ha. They had so many exhibits we couldn't visit them all because we got rained out :(. But, we did stay and have fun. We visited the Women's Museum and they had two amazing new sections. On the first floor they had photos of famous musicians from over time by famous women photographers. Music is my world so of course I was amazed at how timeless, personal, and freakin' awesome these photos were. They had photos from Tina Turner, Kiss, Stevie Wonder, Debbie Harry, Bruce Springsteen, and many many more. Also on the third floor they had a second dedicated to the history of Catholic nuns and their effects on charity, childcare, and social services. I myself am not Catholic but I can really appreciate anybody or group that can make a positive contribution to society. It was great!

Now the most important part....FOOD! I fed my face from the time I got their to the time I left. I had sausage on a bun, sausage on a stick, a funnel cake, fried grilled cheese, and fried peaches and cream. Now I know your probably like EWW!!! Fried grilled cheese, WHY!?! Its already grilled...OR...EWW!!! Fried peaches and cream, GROSS. Yeah, I said the same thing until I actually tried it. Really good stuff guys. The fried peaches and cream tastes like peach cobbler. The texture of the fried part on the outside caught me off guard, but I really didn't know what to expect. My sister waited in line for about 45 minutes for it. Well worth it. Next year I will be trying the fried butter and fried oreos. And yes, I did say butter and oreos.

I needed this vacation yall. It was nice to have a break from work and school and be able to just RELAX and have fun. I recommend if anyone gets a chance to go to the Texas State Fair in Dallas to go. Make a day of it with the family and you will not be disappointed.

Ready for the Weekend!

I'm enjoying my staycation. Sleeping all day and not having to go to work is really great! I love sleeping in. I have made plans to take my best friend and my grandmother to Irving, TX to spend the long weekend with my sister and brother and law. We are going to the Texas state fair. Hopefully it won't rain because the fair is really really fun. Last time I went with my family we went to many exibits there. Exibits are great. I love learning about other cultures and history. The fair had a huge exibit on women's history that was awesome. They also had a clothing exibit that showed how fashion has changed overtime and is coming back around. My sister being the fashionista that she is loved it. I am also happy to get my grandmother out of the house. Shes always cooped up in the house and with my busy work and school schedule I can not spend as much time with her like I would like too. She won't be able to walk around the fair with us because of her hip, but for her to be in a different atmosphere and around the people she loves will give her spirit a boost :). I see in my weekend forcast driving, laughing, shopping, and lots of LOVE. TEXAS HERE IS COME!!!

What a Week

I am so happy to end today. I got off work and officially started my vacation. Hopefully I can turn in my homwork on time! Ha! But seriously, I have worked all week. All these days I have been inside during the day, and the days have been SOOOO nice. I love fall weather. Its not too hot and it is not too cold. Its just right when it isn't raining.

So my car is still in the shop. I was in a car accident at the beginning of August. Someone hit my car while it was parked at work. It was their fault and they were nice enough to call the police and make a report and long story short I finally got my car into the shop to have my bumper fixed on Monday. So Friday comes along and on my lunch break I go to pick my car up from the shop. I write them a check and go and inspect my bumper. I look closely and there are still straches. It looked like they fixed my bumper, and it got strached again. I called the owner of the shop outside and showed him the scratches. He apologized over and over. He asked if I still had my rental and OF COURSE I turned it in the day before. So the owner said he would pay for my rental because he would need my car until Tuesday so he could make sure it was fixed properly. YAY FOR ME! As long as I have some sort of transportation I am ok. His shop had worked on my car before when someone hit me back in February and he did a great job. I am looking forward to getting my car back, but for now I am cruising in the rental! :)

Well, Boog It Could Be Worse

I have had quite an eventful past week or so. So last Friday I get off work around 8:30pm. I get off the interstate and it starts to rain. I looked like it was going to rain all day but it didn't until i finally got off work. So, I'm doing about 50pmh on Bert Kouns when my car goes down to 25mph by itself. Then it speeds up then drops back down. Well, now im freaking out because I dont know whats going on and I'm in the middle of alot of traffic. I make it to the gas station and put gas in my car praying that it helps. Nope. I crank my car and it does not move. So now I'm stranded at pump number 5 infront of WalMart. I call my mom who calls the family mechanic. I tries to talk me through looking at my engine and its not going very well. I can barely open the hood let alone know what I am looking at under it. So after 20mins or so he comes and finds me. He does some tinkering and tells me that the problem is my fuel pump and he can replace the next day if I buy it. Unfortunately for me he has to drain my tank so I will lose all the gas I just filled it with. WONDERFUL. I really dont have a choice at this point so I agree and we move my car to the WalMart parking lot. My mother then picked me up and dropped me off at home.

My best friend comes over and I vent. She recommends that we get out of the house and have some fun. I agree and we have a great time out on the time. I wake up the following Saturday morning to find that I have lost $10 in all of the ruckus of the night before. GREAT. I go to purchase the fuel pump. Its $220. To have the family mechanic tow my car and install the fuel pump, $125. Well, after all is said and done I believe my car ok. The following Tuesday I drive to school and as I crank my car to leave......it won't cut on. I have to get a jump from a classmate of mine who was experiencing the same issues. (She has a older model of the same car as me). I make it to Auto Zone where after a few tests I am informed by manager that I need a new battery. I start to explain what happened to my car the Friday before and he finishes the story without my help. He says that all I needed was a new battery in the first place. I may have just wasted $340 for a $50 issue.

I begin to cry because being a struggling college student I am working 2 jobs for a reason. I'M BROKE! Lol. But, I am not the only person in the world with these problems. It could be worse. I could have no car, no job, not be enrolled in college, or many other issues. I have to say I am blessed to have these issues and not anything worse.
